New era, new website

Monday, March 19th, 2007

In celebration of the Whitest Kids U Know series debuting on Fuse tonight, we are launching the brand new Whitest Kids website!

Okay, so I’m actually trying to make up for years of neglect. Basically, the old site was so broken that the only way to fix it was to almost start over. 40,000 spam posts have been deleted, the triple-comment posting has been fixed, and working e-mail subscriptions will be returning shortly. We’re still reworking the new design and adding new features, so check back over the coming weeks.

Congratulations to the whole gang!

sam’s mom again, here in austin and the crowds are getting larger and funkier. there was a guy strolling down 6th street in nothing but leather chaps and a thong, dangling his concert passes from his bum. i wouldn’t want to be the doorman checking his credentials. and there was a group of well dressed guys all in brown suits who acted like the austin welcoming committee, shaking everyone’s hand and waving to the gathering crowds. we passed lots of street performers who didn’t get a ticket to play at this big dance but got some face time in the street.

on friday we started with the music alternative and saw some comedy! david cross, eugene merman, patton oswald among others, were doing some mc work and taking in the partys around town, but of course our first choice was, THE WHITEST KIDS U KNOW. yea! despite some audio problems the show killed. i know you probably think i’m a little biased (well i am…i still crack up every time i see my son try to mount that deer. is that so wrong?)but we did sample the crowd, many who had never seen the guys and it was all good. timmy even did his tighty whitey number, although the undies were a lovely shade of blue. the dance interpretation left little to the imagination as to what timmy’s parents did with the money from the dance lessons.

we then parted ways w/ the young ones as we had to find a sports bar and watch u.t. play b.ball. after our bracket was advanced, we took off for more music and stumbled into to hear a great band from d.c.named GEORGIE JAMES. they were great and we were sorry that we missed the beginning of the set.

this is where the reality of your age comes into play. apparently you really cannot get by on 4 hours of sleep and continue to party like it’s 1975. i needed food. i needed sleep. i needed those 30 years back if i was going to party all night and THAT wasn’t happening. after 11pm (yes i DID last till the wee hours of 11pm….barely) the culinary choices around austin were slim and the sausage carts were taking reservations for service at dawn. we finally found the only place serving within miles of our hotel named BIKINI LOUNGE. that’s a dead giveaway. why did i not realize that their “uniforms” would fit into a small envelope when i saw the name? oh yea, I WAS HUNGRY!!! so i swallowed my pride took the fish tacos from the chick who was too friendly to the guys and insisted on squatting down to write the order so the fellers could get a better look at what wasn’t on the menu.

that’s it for now! (i did everything i could not to make a fish taco joke because that’s just wrong. after all i AM a mom!)
